I would like to extend my sincere thanks to EVERYONE that helped make the Harvest Festival at the Memphis Zoo such a wonderful success! It was terrific to see so many working so well together. Everyone lended their services where they were best able and everyone had a great time.
I would especially like to thank Jimmie Thigpen for taking care of the dancers. He did great! As you may recall, last year we had a very informal presentation. This year we had a great program! Although it was not a full blown Pow Wow, Jimmie arranged for Cyndi Carter to be Head Lady, Doug Blatchford to be Head Man, and Cubert Bell to Emcee. Jimmie also arranged for The Red Hawk Singers
to perform. James McConnell and Brenda Deckelman both told stories.
There were several exhibition dances and everyone enjoyed it when the
drum sang “Sponge Bob” for an intertribal children’s dance.
